Apple Cider Vinegar

Do you suffer from acid reflux? I used to until I tried a wonderful home remedy. What is it? Nothing more than plain old apple cider vinegar. Surprised? I know I was.

Who would think that something so inexpensive and easily obtainable could be so effect for stopping acid reflux?

Apple cider vinegar has been used for many years as a home remedy for such conditions as sinus infections, high cholesterol, acne, allergies, chronic fatigue, arthritis, sore throats and even acid reflux.

In this country, there are millions of people suffering daily from acid reflux or GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease). This is usually caused when the lower esophageal sphincter does not work correctly. The liquid in the stomach goes back up into the esophagus. This liquid is full of stomach acid and pepsin. The stomach acid actually burns the walls of the esophagus. This unpleasant feeling is commonly referred to as heartburn.

It’s not abnormal to experience heartburn every now and then due to the foods we eat. But, if you experience acid reflux two or more times per week, you may have a problem.

Acid reflux can be very harmful to the body. You definitely want to see a doctor before your esophagus lining is destroyed. Many people try to treat this condition on their own by taking over-the-counter antacids. While they do seem to provide some temporary relief, they can actually make matters worse in the long run. If you use antacids frequently, your body may produce more acids to compensate. This will just worsen your condition over time.

I believe taking apple cider vinegar is a better treatment than taking antacids. Whenever possible, I prefer a natural way to cure my own health problems. However, natural cures often take longer to see results.

You can walk into any grocery store and purchase a bottle of apple cider vinegar for a few dollars. You may already have some in your kitchen cabinet. I personally use apple cider vinegar to treat acid reflux in the following manner. I dilute 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a half cup of water, then drink. I do this between two and three times per day.

This is just my preferred method of treating this condition. You should always talk to your doctor before trying any type of home remedy.

Since I have been taking Apple cider vinegar on a daily basis, my acid reflux problem has disappeared. Another thing to keep in mind is the types of foods you eat and when you eat them. I have learned that for myself, it’s not a good idea to eat some types of spicy foods or eat late in the evening.

As an example, if you suffer from acid reflux you probably wouldn’t want to eat spicy tacos an hour before bedtime. I found that it’s better to let the food digest for at least two or three hours before laying down. This helps to keep the stomach acids from rising up into the esophagus.

So there you have it. A simple, inexpensive natural remedy that in some cases like mine, is more effective than expensive antacids.

If you’d like to try a different all natural herbal remedy for Acid Reflux, I highly recommend using the Digestive Science Reflux Elimination System.
